Extended Basic STI Screen

This test covers common STIs that can be detected in a urine sample or on a vaginal swab.

The test includes:

Which Sample Type is Right for Me?

We recommend a vaginal swab for female patients and a urine sample for male patients. Females can also use a urine sample, but detection rates are higher on vaginal swabs in female patients.

How Long Does the Service Take?

We send the kit to you for next day delivery. The sample kit also includes a Royal Mail 24-hour tracked envelope to send your sample to our laboratory. Once we have your sample booked in, results take approximately 24 hours.

Can I Access Treatment?

Our partner clinic can prescribe antibiotics for everything on this panel except Gonorrhoea. Gonorrhoea requires an intramuscular injection, so you need to be seen face to face.

Mycoplasma Genitalium Resistance Testing

If Mycoplasma Genitalium (M. Gen) is detected, we automatically carry out resistance testing free of charge so that the correct antibiotic is prescribed. This is a requirement in the UK, but some labs do not include this free of charge as standard. With The STI Clinic, there are no additional fees if the result is positive. The resistance testing happens automatically with all positive samples.
